Dodge RAM 1500 2019

Engine Capabilities

The 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 has three powertrains meaning that the vehicle has three options depending on engine specifications. The first type is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with eTorque, which is a mild-hybrid system. It has a 48-volt motor which is connected to a battery pack found at the back of the cabin. The V-6 engine gives the car more power when needed and also efficiency when driving. All these features enable the RAM to have 305 horsepower and a torque of 269 pounds-feet, giving the car a good acceleration ability.

The second powertrain consists of a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with the eTorque system being optional. With 395 hp and a torque of 410 pounds-feet, this powertrain is more powerful than the first one.

There is also the other model which is a four-wheel drive with eTorque Hemi V-8 engine. The V-8 engine has more torque than the V-6 engine and will move the RAM better.

All these powertrains come in an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is an availability of three drive ratios. There is an option of limited-slip differential as well as electronic locking differential for some 4×4 models. As noted earlier about its acceleration, the RAM doesn’t take much time to move from 0-60 mph and its gearshift is smooth. The RAM has a maximum towing ability of 12,750 pounds and a payload of up to 2,300 pounds. The RAM rates well in terms of fuel economy, especially the eTorque V-8 powertrain whose performance is 17/22/19 mpg city/highway/combined.

Mechanical Features

The Dodge has a light steering but which is accurate. It has two options for suspension, the standard coil-spring hind suspension or the air suspension. The suspension offers five ride levels. However, the RAM is not athletic enough to drive aggressively due to its weight. Its braking ability is also not perfectly comfortable especially at the start.

Vehicle Interior

The RAM is incredibly quiet from the inside. The noise cancellation is enhanced is enhanced by a damped ride achieved through the option of a standard-coil spring rear suspension or an air suspension. The interior is of high quality for every trim. The infotainment system comprises of a 12.0inch touchscreen which has a navigation system, Apple CarPlay compatibility and Android Auto. There are also multiple USB ports inside the RAM including at the crew cabin. It has enough legroom for all its six passengers. Most crew cabs can have a standard bed or a shorter one. The car has a bench seat which folds at 40/20//40-split. Other interior features include Bluetooth, six-speaker audio system, auxiliary audio jack, rearview camera and air conditioning. The center console can easily turn into an office, holding a bag and a laptop while also leaving enough space for drinks and phones. Simply put the functionality and furnishings of the cabin features is highly impressive.

Exterior Features

The RAM is a full-size pickup mostly designed as a Quad Cab capable of having six passengers. The crew cab has full-sized doors. It has 18.0inch steel wheels and heated side mirrors. The car is built on a platform of high-strength steel and is 4.0inches longer and lighter than the previous chassis. The sheet metal, which is aerodynamic and made of steel expertly incorporates light metals so as to reduce the overall weight.

Safety Features

The RAM has been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and achieved a good score but has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The only low score was on Marginal headlight illumination. The chassis is made of strong steel and is designed well to protect occupants in case of front crashes. There are systems to prevent collisions when moving forward or reversing, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera systems and lane keep assist which all help to prevent accidents.
