Apperances/exterrior

The appearance of an elegant Infiniti QX50 is very different from the appearance of its predecessors. The car is now not like a hatchback, it looks like a stylish crossover. Its body is made of high strength steel, but at the same time its weight is low, and the stiffness has become much higher than that of previous generation models.

A lot of characteristic features give the appearance of the car an impressive charisma. Headlights of the main light have a sly squint. On the front bumper there are numerous aerodynamic elements and an additional grille. The main grille has a proprietary, easily recognizable form.

The windshield is slightly deflected back and has a light tint.

The fracture of the roof and large wheel arches give the car silhouette swiftness.

There is a plastic border around the bottom contour, which gives the car a sporty tint.

On the back of the car there are stylish LED brake lights and a massive bumper with oblong fog lights. The power of the new car is emphasized by two heads of the exhaust system.

Chrome details add beautiful color accents to the appearance of the car.

Interior

The interior of the new hatchback Infiniti QX50 immediately attracts attention with its comfort, well-thought-out ergonomics and stylish finishing from high-quality materials.

Front instrument cluster panel is fully updated. Instead of one regular display we can see two color displays at once. The upper display is used for navigation maps and settings, and with the lower display you can control the multimedia system and climate control.

The multimedia system is based on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, passengers can use Wi-Fi and 4G standard mobile communications.

Next to the lower display are climate control buttons, audio control buttons, and seat heating and cooling buttons.

The central tunnel Infiniti QX50 is one of the main decorative elements of the interior and sources of comfort. It has a USB port, 12V sockets, several wireless chargers, a transmission lever, a drive and suspension switch, drawers for storing small things, and of course, cup holders.

The seats with high backs and head restraints can take many comfortable positions, they provide good lateral support, and the front seats also have electric drive.

The interior is covered with leather, which can have 4 different colors. Also, the color design can be combined, and for an additional fee you can order seats with decorative patterns.

The multifunction steering wheel has a leather sheath, and an aluminum lining passes along its contour. The steering wheel can be adjusted in height and depth using an electric drive.

Performance/Driving

The drivers can choose from three available control modes - Sport, Standard and Eco, or they can individually set such steering settings that they like.

The standard version is front-wheel-drive. The four-wheel drive of a top model is implemented using an intelligent control system and a special electronic clutch.

Infiniti QX50 is equipped with a unique VC-Turbo engine, which is the world's first serial engine with variable compression ratio. This allows the most efficient use of fuel. If the load is very large (for example, during sharp acceleration, overtaking or driving on a steep slope), the engine automatically reduces the compression ratio and the power increases. If the car is moving evenly at low speed or it is idling, the engine increases the compression ratio and fuel consumption is minimized.

Engine power reaches 268 horsepower, it provides 280 lb-ft of torque and 27 mpg combined. In order to accelerate to 60 miles per hour, the car takes a little more than 6 seconds. In the combined mode, fuel economy reaches 27 mpg.

The continuously variable transmission (CVT) provides great driving comfort.

The system of electronic assistants facilitates the work of the driver in such critical situations as parking and driving on uneven surfaces.

Special systems constantly monitor the situation in the "blind zones", and keep the car on the road lane.

Tech

All wheels of the new Infiniti QX50 are equipped with ventilated disc brakes. The front suspension is McPherson, the rear suspension is multi-link one.

The steering wheel does not have a mechanical connection with the wheels, and all control signals are transmitted via electrical wires. This Direct Adaptive Steering system allows the driver to adjust the steering response, as well as select the control mode (Sport, Standard or Eco).

The car is equipped with the most powerful systems of active and passive safety, as well as all sorts of assistants. The long list includes: a set of airbags, seatbelts and curtains; Anti-lock braking system that prevents the loss of steerability, the system of dynamic stabilization of the car; circular view system; intellectual cruise control; parking assistant; traffic control on the lane; monitoring obstacles when reversing, and many others.

Cargo

The trunk lid looks very decorative: it has a massive chrome line connecting the LED brake lights. The upper part of the cover is adorned with a sports spoiler with repeater stop signals.

The trunk can be opened not only manually, but also with the help of a button located in the passenger compartment, as well as with a key fob or in a touch free way: to do this, just move your foot under the rear bumper and the cover will open.

Trunk volume is 565 liters.

The verdict

The new SUV Infiniti QX50 is based on the most advanced technology, equipped with a revolutionary VC-Turbo engine and the best safety and comfort systems. This modern high-tech car is suitable for both near and for long journeys.
